The next cycle of the Alaska Military Youth Academy will begin March 28, 2012 located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, just outside of Anchorage.
They will be accepting 250 youth on a first come, first serve basis.
Youth must be between the ages of 16-18 on the start date of the cycle.
This program is tuition free and transportation to and from the program is provided at no cost to the youth or their family. The residential program is 22 weeks and in this time youth are able to earn 7 high school credits and their GED (if they past the 5 GED tests).
This academy focuses on eight core components:
- Academic Excellence
- Life Coping Skills
- Job Skills
- Health/Hygiene
- Responsible Citizenship
- Service to the Community
- Leadership/Followership
- Physical Fitness
