Village Internet Agent through AVTEC!!

AVTEC- Alaska's Institute of Technology is offering a new program that provides a student the technical skills necessary to install and maintain the increasing computer and broadband network technologies in rural Alaska.
Graduates from this program will be prepared to perform service work on behalf of ISP's and local and regional organizations in Alaska's rural villages. They will also walk away with a free laptop and technician's tool set upon graduation to participate in future online course opportunities available to program completers.

The VIA Program provides free tuition, books and supplies for qualified students. It is a four-month program (80 days, 6 hours per day) in Seward, offered twice a year.

Program Dates are:
2012: January 17 to May 10
2012: Fall time

Being from a community located off the road system is a qualifier for the federal grant.
You must also have a reading grade level of 10.5 (585 TABE), basic keyboarding skills and some experience using a personal computer operating system, good study habits and communication/interpersonal skills.
